Nu Chapter at Shorter University

Scholarship

Phi Mu began as literary society, the Philomathean Society, founded by three scholarly young women at Wesleyan College in 1852. Although Phi Mu has evolved and expanded since its beginnings so many years ago, its strong academic tradition remains; Nu Chapter was even recognized at Phi Mu's 2018 National Convention for being on its national honor roll. Each sister is encouraged to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75, with its executive officers being held to an even higher standard. The hard work of Phi Mu members has kept its chapter GPA above that of Shorter's All-Women's average for several years. A large portion of our sisters regularly appear on the Dean's List, and many are recognized for their academic achievements by induction into honor societies.
